This study investigated the fact that autophagy is repressed in preeclampsia, and autophagy activated by hypoxia could rescue the ox-LDL–mediated preeclampsia-like phenotype in HTR8/SVneo cells: declined migration, apoptosis (Bax was upregulated), and impaired angiogenesis (VEGFA was downregulated and FLT1 upregulated). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is preeclampsia.
