NGF signaling is also elevated in women with PCOS (Dissen et al., 2009; Gulino et al., 2016), while increased NGF signaling causes mice to show signs of PCOM, with a higher number of atretic antral follicles, without displaying cyst formation—the phenotype we also observed in Abhd2–/– females.
