At the other end of the AMD susceptibility spectrum, the presence of two CFH-CFHR5 risk haplotypes increases odds ratios associated with the Neutral/Neutral diplotype 2.8-fold (OR increased from 0.64 to 1.78; no ARMS2/HTRA1 risk alleles) to 4.7-fold (OR increased from 2.89 to 13.57; two ARMS2/HTRA1 risk alleles). This evidence concerns the gene ARMS2 and age-related macular degeneration.
