IL6 and subarachnoid hemorrhage: Patients with TBI and subarachnoid haemorrhages (SAH) that develop sepsis have been shown to exhibit higher levels of IL-6 in blood during the first week following ictus [46, 47], but not in CSF [48], showing similar differences between the blood and brain compartments seen in our study, and potential differences between studies analysing fluid vs tissue cytokine levels.
