ACOD1 and ischemic stroke: In this study, we report for the first time that the induction of IRG1 following ischaemic stroke serves as an endogenous protective mechanism to restrain ischaemic brain injury, as IRG1−/− MCAO mice displayed aggravated blood–brain barrier (BBB) disruption, augmented microglia (MG) activation and exacerbated ischaemic brain injury.
