Nevertheless, antibody therapy against IL-17, secukinumab, and its receptor IL-17R, brodalumab, have demonstrated unexpected results in CD, since two different clinical trials reported that the administration of secukinumab and brodalumab in moderate to severe CD patients were not effective and reported more adverse events and worsening of CD (Hueber et al., 2012; Targan et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and Cowden disease.
