Inflammatory monocytes (iMo), defined as CD45+CD11b+Ly6G-Ly6ChiCCR2+ cells (Figure 1D), decreased in number early after infection, as noted by others (15), but then transiently increased in number in the BM of B6 mice being ~2-fold higher in absolute number at 28 day p.i compared to day 0 and ~3.5 fold increased compared to d4.
