In contrast with the observation that high CYP27A1 mRNA expression was associated with a favorable prognosis compared to low CYP27A1 mRNA expression among the BC patients ≤50 years14, high CYP27A1 protein expression was found to be associated with inferior prognosis compared with low CYP27A1 protein expression among women <55 years old in a later study16, warranting more data, preferably from better characterized and larger cohorts. The gene discussed is CYP27A1; the disease is breast cancer.
