In particular, the ACT34-CMI trial, by enrolling 167 RA patients to receive intramyocardial injection of BM-derived CD34+ cells (0.1 × 106 or 0.5 × 106 cells/Kg) or placebo, demonstrated the superiority of CD34+ cells vs. placebo in improving exercise tolerance (p = 0.01) and weekly angina frequency (p = 0.02), especially for the group that received 0.1 × 106 CD34+ cells/Kg (111).
