IL6 and atherosclerosis: Regarding the occurrence and development of ICVD are closely linked to atherosclerosis, the possible mechanisms of chemerin and ICVD are summarized as follows: (1) chemerin can promote the production of adipocytes, resulting in lipid metabolism disorder and insulin resistance; (2) IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) could up-regulate the expression of chemerin receptor in vascular endothelial cells; (3) chemerin factor has the ability to induce monocytes, which can up-regulate the expression of monocyte adhesion molecules and promote monocyte aggregation under the vascular endothelium.
