In chronic colitis, BDNF protein levels in the myocardium were significantly reduced, accompanied by decreases in GSK-3β, BCL2, pAKT(S133) and increases in β-catenin, STAT3, COL3A1, and ELAVL1 compared to that in age-matched healthy controls (Fig 4A and 4B).
