In NUT (nuclear protein in testis) midline carcinoma (NMC), a highly aggressive subtype of squamous cell cancer, BRD4–NUT fusion oncoprotein enhances the interaction of p300 and BRD4, leading to a massive feed-forward expansion of transcriptionally inactive hyperacetylated chromatin domains (Reynoird et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene BRD4 and squamous cell carcinoma.
