PLEK and viral infectious disease: Rubio et al. (2019) identified six new genes above a threshold of −logP ≥ 4 in their GWAS analysis:restriction to tobacco etch virus movement 3, a DEAD box RNA helicase 1 candidate gene, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3b, a protein with a pleckstrin homology domain, a protein containing a TIM barrel domain, and a key enzyme involved in the glutamate pathway. Our study identified 13 genes specifically mapped for viral infection response (Table 2), of which eight were experimentally confirmed as having roles in the plant response to TuMV-S and TuMV-G (Fig. 5).
