When the data was compared with respect to the phase of the CML at the time of diagnosis, it was observed that the frequencies of AG and GG genotypes of CASP9 -1263 A>G polymorphism, in general, were significantly elevated in CML patients irrespective of phase at the time of diagnosis and significant odds ratios were obtained for chronic phase CML patients carrying either AG (OR-1.99, 95% CI-1.41–2.80) or GG (OR-2.20, 95% CI-1.53–3.16) genotypes. The gene discussed is CASP9; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
