NOTCH1 and atherosclerosis: Similarly, in macrophages and monocytes, miR-146a targets tumor necrosis factor receptor–associated factor 6 (TRAF6), leading to inhibition of NF-κB-driven inflammation and atherosclerosis (Li et al., 2015), and promotes macrophage polarization toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype by inhibiting Notch1 (Huang et al., 2016).
