Electron microscopy (EM) studies of RV‐infected cells between 8 and 24 h post‐infection revealed electron‐dense, membraneless cytoplasmic inclusions containing NSP5 and NSP2, that are often surrounded by the newly assembled double‐layered particles entering the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via a poorly understood mechanism (Altenburg et al, 1980; Eichwald et al, 2018). The gene discussed is SPECC1; the disease is infection.
