These data suggest therapeutic applications of CMKLR1 agonists mimicking the effects of chemerin, with potential benefit in pathological situations involving inappropriate or excessive neoangiogenesis, including solid tumors, retinopathy of prematurity, diabetic retinopathy, and potentially arthritis in which destruction of the cartilage by the neoangiogenesis pathway triggered by inflammation plays a central role.
