CD8A and cancer: In cancer studies, AIM2 is capable of inducing antigen-specific antibody response and has been proposed as an adjuvant to enhance therapeutic efficacy via CD8+ T cells.13–15 This antigen-specific adaptive immune response is reduced in AIM2 KO mice after DNA vaccination, which is in IL-1beta and IL-18 independent manner, suggesting an inflammasome-independent function of AIM2 in adaptive immune cells.
