Expression of organic anion-transporting polypeptide 8 (OATP8), which is the most probable uptake transporter of gadoxetic acid, is reported to significantly decrease during multistep hepatocarcinogenesis due to increased expression of hepatocyte nuclear factor 3β (HNF3β) [25, 27], which may explain why iso-to-high signal intensity HCCs were confirmed as well-differentiated HCC. The gene discussed is FOXA2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
