This reaction increases the risk of cancer by inducing metalloproteinase-3 (MMP3) expression, which leads to genomic instability, mitochondrial shape modification, and metabolism degradation, leading to a high caspase-3 expression induced by cytochrome C. The increase in extracellular MMP3 particularly promotes Bcl2 binding to the mitochondria and the upregulation of mitochondrial outer membrane permeability, and disrupting the mitochondrial membrane (Kale et al., 2018). Here, MMP3 is linked to cancer.
