CASP3 and infection: Since caspase-3 is responsible for the inactivation of STAT1 in some cells (King and Goodbourn, 1998), and due to the fact that previous data from our laboratory demonstrated that ASFV infection induces caspase-3 activation and apoptosis early after infection (Carrascosa et al., 2002), we wondered whether the triggering of caspase-3 activation during Arm/07/CBM/c2 and NH/P68 infection is involved in the process of STAT1 degradation.
