In PD, the c-Abl tyrosine kinase inhibitor reduced α-synuclein levels and induced lysosomal activity (Hebron et al., 2013), whereas in a PSP mouse model, nilotinib decreased phosphorylated tau concentration and improved motor symptoms (Torres-Yaghi et al., 2017), suggesting a potential application in the treatment of tau pathology. Here, MAPT is linked to Parkinson disease.
