CR1 and Alzheimer disease: These findings expand the general narrative established by human genetic studies of AD and now a proteomic study of AD;41 in particular, we see enrichment for complement pathway genes (Fig. 4), which likely connect with the role of the complement receptor 1 (CR1) gene, which harbors an AD susceptibility variant whose functional consequences remain poorly understood but do include an influence on the accumulation of neuritic plaque pathology42–45.
