Our study showed the correlation of periostin and tenascin C with some members of the MMP family, which were confirmed to be increased in patients with CRSwNP and identify that both periostin and tenascin C have regulatory roles in the expression of these MMP, acting on different types of cells, mainly fibroblasts for periostin and nasal epithelium for tenascin C. We provide evidence for the pathogenic roles of periostin and tenascin C in the formation of nasal polyps. This evidence concerns the gene TNC and nasal cavity polyp.
