Enhanced signaling through the ErbB family of receptors such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in glioblastoma and ERBB4 in mammary epithelial and estrogen receptor positive breast cancer cells, has been found to increase LDLR expression through SREBP activation11,16 In glioblastoma, hyper-activation of the EGFR signaling pathway led to greater LDLR expression and susceptibility to targeting of cholesterol metabolism11. This evidence concerns the gene LDLR and breast cancer.
