After crossing this with a Cre-dependent tdTomato reporter line, they showed that tdTomato labelling was virtually restricted to ALS neurons in the spinal cord, and captured around half of those in lamina I. In the present study, we have crossed the Phox2a::Cre mouse with Cre-dependent reporter lines to test whether this strategy preferentially targets specific types of lamina I ALS neuron, defined by neurochemistry or response to noxious stimuli. This evidence concerns the gene PHOX2A and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
