In one study, inhibiting the expression of the autophagy-related genes autophagy-related protein 5(AGT5) and ATG7 in vitro to prevent the death of erastin-induced pancreatic cancer cell lines (PANC1 and PANC2.03) significantly reduced the ferrous iron and malondialdehyde levels in the cell. This evidence concerns the gene ATG7 and pancreatic neoplasm.
