Excess adipose tissue may enhance neoplasia and tumor progression in BC cells via mechanisms of chronic inflammation such as elevated pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), and decreased anti-inflammatory markers such as interleukin-10 (IL-10) [2,4,5]. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is breast cancer.
