The renal outer medullary potassium channel (ROMK) is an inwardly rectifying potassium channel member 1 or Kir1.1 ATP-dependent where overexpression has been linked to the development of hypertension [23], while loss of function polymorphisms or pharmacological inhibition protects against hypertension [24,25]. The gene discussed is KCNJ1; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
