The downregulation of BAX in C. rodentium-challenged ProPG-1-treated mice but not in C. rodentium-challenged mPG-1-treated mice suggests that ProPG-1 may play a role in pathways that regulate BAX to reduce cell death and intestinal sloughing, while C. rodentium-challenged mPG-1-treated mice may no longer need to inhibit bacterial-induced apoptosis, as they had effectively cleared infection by this time.
