In countries with a 3% or more prevalence of cryptococcosis, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends using this screening immunochromatographic test for the early diagnosis of cryptococcal disease in adults with advanced human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease who are not undertaking antiretroviral therapy (ART) and have a CD4+ level of <100 cells/μL (eventually, CD4 <200 cells/μL). Here, CD4 is linked to cryptococcosis.
