Even when participants were matched based on PGmax (median [IQR] 87 [75–95] for diabetic participants vs 90 [83–94] mmHg for control participants, p = 0.36), those with type 2 diabetes (n = 17) vs without diabetes (n = 19) had higher valvular expression levels of NF-κB (+77%, p < 0.0001), BMP-2 (+118%, p < 0.0001), FII (+107%, p < 0.0001) and FXa (+65%, p < 0.0001). Here, NFKB1 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
