Using the bioinformatics approach, we monitored the transcriptional response of individual patients, independent of their clinically defined treatment phenotype, and defined four types of TB patients: the expected group responding standardly to treatment; the weaker group defining a subgroup with a lower grade of infection (low CRP, and longer time to M. tuberculosis culture positivity); and the stronger initial and stronger delayed groups, showing differences in their transcriptional response at 1 wk after T0. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is tuberculosis.
