Although C1QC, SERPING1, ETV7, and BATF2 were among the top 30 DEGs in all the clinical phenotypes, increasing statistical significance of differential gene expression was observed with progression from incipient to subclinical to clinical TB, suggesting that they may be early indicators of M. tuberculosis infection and reflect the evolution of the immune response with time after infection. The gene discussed is BATF2; the disease is tuberculosis.
