Immunohistochemical analysis (Figure 3) showed a strong cytoplasmatic/membranous positivity (75%) of Cav-1 within tumour cells (Figure 3B, magnification II) in tissue sections of high grade glioma compared to control (non-tumour) tissue from brain cortex, where little to no Cav-1 staining in glial cell populations was evident (Figure 3A). The gene discussed is CAV1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
