While signatures of immune activation were observed in both groups following LPS stimulation, DEGs upregulated in PBMC from controls enriched more significantly to pathways involved in antiviral immunity (“response to IFNγ” and “response to virus”), whereas DEGs upregulated in PBMC from CHD animals enriched more significantly to leukocyte activation and inflammation pathways (Figure 1D and Supplementary Figure 1C).
