SFRP5 and diabetes mellitus: Data showed that circulating SFRP5 level is significantly lower in obese, diabetic and adult latent autoimmune diabetes patients compared to normal subjects, and is negatively correlated with BMI, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, insulin level and IR index, supporting the role of SFRP5 as a protective factor in the pathogenesis of diabetes (121–126).
