CNTNAP2 and autism: Overall, the present study provides preclinical evidence that acute, systemic R-Baclofen treatment reverses many disruptions in brainstem-mediated auditory processing and behavior associated with mutations in the autism-linked gene Cntnap2. These findings support further investigations of GABAB receptor agonists as promising pharmacological targets for the rescue of sensory processing deficits seen in neurodevelopmental disorders including ASD.
