The Wnt antagonists SFRP1, SFRP2, DKK2 and Wnt inhibitory factor-1 (WIF-1) are hypermethylated during the transition from colorectal adenoma to carcinoma, whereas mutations in BRAF, APC, and KRAS occur at the transition from normal to adenoma phases, these events may drive the colorectal cancer formation [41].
