The overexpression of Wnt5a activates the canonical Wnt signaling pathway by inducing the nuclear accumulation of β-catenin, increases the expression of the target genes, such as VE-cadherin, MMP2, and MMP9, and accelerates angiogenesis, ultimately leading to the growth and metastasis of NSCLC (10). This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
