Importantly, we also detected a significant decreased expression of CD133 in tumor tissues from RFA + MLT animals, which suggested that fewer stem-like cancer cells survived after combined treatment with RFA and MLT (Fig. 2i).21 Of note, we did not detect any obvious changes in the body weight of the animals or abnormalities in the mice among the four groups (Supplementary Fig. S4), suggesting there was no significant alternation of nutritional status and toxicity with any treatments in this study.
