TP53 and cancer: Following molecular analysis of surgical specimens, our review identified a series of seven negative prognosticators: in addition to previously well-described IDHwt, Ki 67 labelling index over-expression, and positive VEGF, the cancer-protecting TP53 gene, either overexpressed or mutated, is also significant negative prognosticator in LGGs (P < .03).50 In addition, the triple combination of IDH mutation/MGMT methylation/TP53 confers a negative prognostic effect.
