We eliminated all the confounding factors that might have affected vitamin D, hs-CRP and SAA levels as well as BMD such as infection, recent surgery, neoplastic, and inflammatory diseases, renal or hepatic failure, Parkinson, Alzheimer, and cerebrovascular diseases in addition to any drugs or supplements (vitamin D, calcium) affecting serum levels of biomarkers or BMD.
