Hurley et al. showed that supplementation with resveratrol (10 and 40 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) after single dose or following 7 days of daily treatment in Wistar-Kyoto rats (animal model of depression) significantly decreased forced swim test (FST: a measure of helplessness) and increased BDNF levels in a dose-dependent manner [36]. This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and depressive symptom measurement.
