A recent systematic meta‐analysis by Sharpton et al,252 which consisted of 21 randomized clinical trials, revealed that the use of probiotics or symbiotics improved liver‐specific markers of hepatic function (alanine aminotransferase), liver stiffness measurements, and liver steatosis in patients diagnosed with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
