Human malignant gliomas contain Ca2+-permeable TRPC1 channels as evidenced biophysically by Bomben and Sontheimer (2008), who also showed that multinucleated glioma cells resulting from incomplete cell division during their extensive proliferation result in the functional loss of TRPC1 channels regulating calcium signaling during cytokinesis (Bomben and Sontheimer, 2010). This evidence concerns the gene TRPC1 and glioma.
