These findings are compatible with our finding that the USP46 rs2244291 is associated with the “re-experiencing (having sudden and intrusive traumatic memories)” cluster, the core PTSD symptom, although fear memory processes themselves were not evaluated in the current study, when considering that re-experiencing of the traumatic event is closely related with abnormalities in fear memory processes including conditioning, reconsolidation and extinction of fear memory (58, 59). The gene discussed is USP46; the disease is post-traumatic stress disorder.
