Martín-Blanco et al. (2014) found that methylation status of the promoter region of the glucocorticoid receptor gene (NR3C1, exon 1 F) was positively associated both with a history of childhood maltreatment and with severity of self-injurious behaviors in a sample of adults with borderline personality disorder (BPD). This evidence concerns the gene NR3C1 and Borderline personality disorder.
