Several retrospective comparison studies between survivors and non-survivors showed an increasing trend of acute-phase proteins, including CRP, procalcitonin (PCT), and IL-6, in non-survivors, and a stable or downward trend in survivors (14), CRP was verified to be independent outcome predictor and independent discriminator of disease severity (15–17), indicating that the diagnostic value of CRP for COVID-19 might be useful in clinical practice. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
