Guanylyl Cyclase C receptor (GCC) is expressed at the apical membrane of enterocytes from duodenum to distal rectum and also by primary and metastatic colorectal cancer cells, however, it is not expressed in healthy extraintestinal tissue such as liver and lungs, where colorectal cancer cells usually metastasize4–6, being therefore a promising target to treat metastasis. The gene discussed is GUCY2C; the disease is colorectal cancer.
