IFNAR1 and anemia: Interestingly, type I IFNs, which are produced early on in the course of infection [14], seem to protect mice from severe anemia, as LDV-infected IFNAR KO 129/Sv mice that received a large amount of 34-3C mAb (350 μg) showed decreased survival compared to the control WT 129/Sv mice (Figure 1B, p = 0.009).
